Introduction to Outdoor Leader SkillsBe sure to check out the latest photos! The Daniel Boone Council invites you to Participate in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, a fun-filled program of hands-on skills training in the outdoors, designed to help you master basic camp skills required for Tenderfoot to First Class. This course will be held at Camp Daniel Boone in Haywood County. Instructors will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, and work with wood tools, and about ropes, first aid, planning campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and backpacking, and nature identification, and Leave No Trace. Each outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Boy Scout Handbook to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a training, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow units leaders. Once registered we will send you a list of those items you will need to bring with you for this fun-filled weekend. You can also view and download the list by clicking on the What To Bring link on the right. Remember- this is a Scouting outdoor experience. You will be camping out. There will be some light hiking during the compass/map reading session, but no more (and likely less) than the average scouting activity. Please remember to bring your Boy Scout Leader's Class 1 Health Form. We will be staying in the new ARROWHEAD campsite. "Students" will stay in tents. We will be training in the pavilion so weather should not be a problem. |
