The Emblems-

Anne Gilliam was born to Emily Cheves and Olaf Emblem in Las Vegas, NM. She was adopted by Jesse and Sam Gilliam and moved to Cherokee, NC.

Olaf S. Emblem was a Norwegian immigrant who sailed into San Fransico sometime around 1900. He was the first American west of the Mississippi river to fly having designed and built his own flying machine. Here are pictures from our Emblem family.
